The Framework team performed acoustic testing to confirm that both airborne and impact sound isolation performance of the Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) floor assemblies for Framework exceeded the required acoustic design criteria and building code requirements. The testing of the floor assemblies allowed the design team to better understand objective and subjective acoustic performance criteria of at least 10 different assembly configurations. The testing regimen allowed the design team to confirm performance of interior finish materials, including carpet, tile, concrete, and gyp-crete, as well as understanding the necessary mitigation methods for rooftop mechanical units. The acoustic testing was undertaken as part of the performance-based design process required to receive approval for a building permit for Framework.
