LEVER and Freres Lumber continue to explore the architectural potential of Mass Plywood with a second pavilion design. Constructed for the 2018 Mass Timber Conference, the Freres Pavilion is the first Mass Plywood structure to fully utilize digital fabrication technology. The five-inch thick Mass Plywood Panels were precision CNC milled and prefabricated at the recently completed Freres Lumber Mass Plywood plant in Lyon’s, Oregon.
At 20' tall, the structure creates a central meeting place for conference attendees to gather, converse, and relax. The design incorporates three types of spaces: the central enclosure, a bench-height lounging area, and a bar-height gathering place.
