Construction begins on Block 45, the largest affordable housing development constructed in Portland in the past 50 years. The new 12-story building brings 240 units of affordable housing to Portland’s Lloyd District and includes ground level retail, a community courtyard garden, and connections to public transit. The design is distinguished by its undulating form and brick cladding. Its woven pattern changes with the light and creates a building with a distinctive civic presence.
LEVER serves as Design Architect for the project and is honored to work with a collaborative team including Home Forward, O’Neill/Walsh Community Builders, LRS Architects, KPFF Consulting Engineers, and PLACE among others.
Block 45 officially broke ground in a ceremony on January 12, 2018 and is expected to be complete in late 2019.
