Energy Trust of Oregon will host two in-person Net Zero Fellowship research discussions and virtual webinar led by Jeff Stern, Senior Associate at LEVER and current Net Zero Fellow. The first event will take place on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, from 4:30—6 pm at The Breakroom, 1055 NW Newport Avenue, Bend, Oregon. The second will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, from 4:30—6 pm at the Phoenix Plaza Civic Center, 220 North Main Street, Phoenix, Oregon. The virtual webinar will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025.

Stern will present findings from his new report, Seeing the Forest Through the Trees—A Guide to Low Carbon Buildings. He will discuss optimal approaches for different building types to reduce whole-building carbon, the feasibility of zero-carbon buildings in the current building climate, and comparisons of exterior building assemblies designed to meet Passive House standards for wood stick framed and mass timber, plus comparisons of embodied carbon. The presentation will also include three case studies addressing various building types, including affordable townhomes, rental apartments, and a Black Business Hub with retail and office space. Both events will conclude with time for networking and catered refreshments.
