The 2025 the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) Annual Conference, titled “Future Unfolding,” will take place October 8–12, 2025, at the Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center in Kansas City, Missouri. The conference will feature over 60 in-person sessions, keynotes, and workshops, as well as networking opportunities and recognition programs highlighting excellence in the architecture and design industry.
On Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm, Chandra Robinson, Principal at LEVER and Tyler Nishitani, Architect at Bora Architecture & Interiors, will present “Carnegie Libraries: Additions that Celebrate Culture.” This session will focus on the Multnomah County Albina and North Portland libraries, located in Portland, Oregon’s historically Black community.
The presentation will discuss the renovation and additions completed in 2025 as part of a broader plan for community reinvestment, the role of authentic engagement through 80 events and conversations, and the integration of locally sourced mass timber and LEED Gold sustainable design. The seminar will highlight how community identity informed the design and construction process. For more information about the seminar or to register, please visit NOMA Conference.
