LEVER has transformed a former warehouse and its subterranean parking garage in Los Angeles’s Chinatown into 4.5 floors of office space at 843 North Spring Street. The project utilizes a hybrid structural system of cross-laminated timber (CLT), steel, and concrete to support its design, allowing for open layouts and eliminating the need for traditional support beams. The structure integrates elements from its original parking garage, contributing to expansive floor plates. LEVER worked with Field Operations on landscaping, emphasizing the connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. Sustainable features include CLT paneling, solar panels, rainwater storage, and operable windows for air circulation.
