Thank you to Architectural Record for featuring LEVER’s Albina One project. Located in Portland, Oregon, the 94-unit housing complex is situated in the Lower Albina neighborhood, an area shaped by mid-twentieth-century urban renewal that displaced much of its historic residential fabric, leaving the Paramount Apartments as the sole surviving residential building. The project rises from a landscaped plaza and is organized in a J-shaped form that frames a resident-only courtyard, incorporates terraces at the southwest-facing elbow, and balances daylight access, views toward downtown Portland, and constructability. Ground-level spaces include a double-height conference room and a combined kitchen-lounge accessible to residents and neighbors, while the blue and gold exterior, developed with local artists, integrates abstract floral patterns stamped into stucco and folded screens to signal transformation and community presence.
