Thank you, AIA California, for recognizing LEVER with a 2025 Merit Award for 843 N Spring Street in Los Angeles, California. The project is one of the city’s first and largest hybrid CLT buildings, transforming a 1980s warehouse into a new type of creative office environment. The design integrates mass timber, steel, and concrete with outdoor workspaces, private balconies, and rooftop amenities, strengthening connections between interior and landscape. Designed in collaboration with Field Operations, it combines CLT and concrete slab with exposed steel, while timber panels cantilever over the balconies to bring a natural material presence throughout.
The AIA California Design Awards honor projects that demonstrate design excellence as defined by the AIA Framework for Design Excellence. The program celebrates the role of architecture in creating a more sustainable, equitable, and resilient built environment.
