The U.S. Department of State has selected a group of architecture firms to provide comprehensive architecture and engineering services for projects worldwide through the Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO). The process followed a two-stage approach that began in March 2024 and received over 100 submissions, resulting in a Worldwide AE Design IDIQ contract, which supports variable purchases within a defined timeframe.
LEVER is honored to be among the firms awarded the Worldwide AE Design IDIQ contract, alongside TenBerke; Duvall Decker – Spacesmith (joint venture); Ennead Architects; KieranTimberlake; Krueck & Sexton Architects; Morphosis Architects; REX Architecture; Richard Kennedy Architects; SHoP Architects; Thomas Phifer & Partners; and Weiss/Manfredi Architects. These firms will support OBO’s mission over the next five years by contributing to the design and delivery of diplomatic facilities internationally.
OBO, established in 2001, oversees the planning, acquisition, design, construction, operations, maintenance, and disposal of U.S. diplomatic and consular properties overseas. The program builds on a broader effort that has produced nearly 170 diplomatic facilities over the past two decades, with current solicitations underway for new embassy construction and an estimated completion timeline extending through 2031.
